The Town of Mansfield invites residents to enjoy some (socially distanced) summer fun this July, August, and September!

Mansfield’s departments of Parks and Recreation, Public Library, Senior Services, and Youth Services have teamed up with the Mansfield Downtown Partnership to provide three months full of fun activities and events for all ages.

Each month’s activities have been planned around a different theme:

  • July: The Great Outdoors – Enjoy all that Mansfield has to offer outside!

  • August: Your Place to Grow – From farm to garden, enjoy the bounty and beauty of Mansfield!

  • September: Celebrate Mansfield – Celebrating the community that makes Mansfield special!

“We know that many of our residents’ summer plans have been disrupted due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” said Interim Town Manager John Carrington. “Through these activities, we hope to provide residents with some fun alternatives. And, with so many feeling increased isolation due to health and safety measures, we also hope the activities will help residents feel more connected with the community.”

One community-wide effort that will take place through all three months is a door decorating activity. Everyone is invited to decorate their front door based on each month’s theme. Houses, apartments, businesses – all doors are welcome! Once they have decorated, residents and business owners are encouraged to take a photo of their door and share it by posting it to social media with #MansfieldSummerFun.

“With July’s theme of ‘The Great Outdoors,’ we are sure to see some creative decorations!” Senior Center Director Sarah Taylor commented. “Wild animals, a tribute to a favorite national park, maybe a depiction of the night sky – we are excited to see what folks create!”

As with the Library’s popular “Mansfield Bear Hunt,” residents are invited to keep an eye out for decorated doors as they walk or bike around town.
