Supporting Our Community
Since its formation in 2001, one of the Mansfield Downtown Partnership’s objectives has been to narrow the gap between “town” and “gown,” to build a greater sense of community between Mansfield residents and UConn students, faculty, and staff. The redevelopment of Downtown Storrs, especially the creation of Betsy Paterson Square, was a major piece of this effort by creating the public space for folks of all walks of life to meet and interact.
Another way in which the Partnership has worked to enhance the feeling of community is through its events, most of which are free and all of which are open to the public. The Partnership’s events draw people to Downtown Storrs, bring new customers to downtown businesses, and add to the identity of Mansfield.
