The Mansfield Downtown Partnership will launch its popular Moonlight Movies series on Friday, August 5. This free, outdoor movies series will take place on Betsy Paterson Square in Downtown Storrs on Friday, August 5; Friday, August 12; and Friday, August 19. Activities begin at 7:30 PM; the movies begin at dusk. Moonlight Movies are free and open to everyone.
This year's series features three films which take audiences on fantastic adventures - Aug. 5: Encanto; Aug. 12: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban; Aug. 19: Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Activities before each movie include:
Aug. 5: An 8-minute, original ballet inspired by Encanto by students from the Mansfield Academy of Dance and a meet-and-greet with the "Casita Sister"
Aug. 19: Martial arts demo by Villari's Martial Arts of Mansfield and a cosplay parade - Dress up as your Marvel hero (or villain)!
At each movie, there will also be crafts with Mansfield Advocates for Children and lawn games, movie-themed games, and temporary tattoos with the Mansfield Downtown Partnership.
Visitors are invited to bring snacks or bring take-out from one of over two dozen eateries in Downtown Storrs. There will also be refreshments for sale at the Square, including cold, bottled water from Mansfield Fire Department, popcorn from the Partnership, and cold treats from the UConn Dairy Bar Ice Cream Truck.
Moonlight Movies are made possible by our generous sponsors, including "Producers" People's United, a division of M&T Bank; Stephen Bacon & Anne Bennett; and Ilze K. Taylor and "Directors" Mansfield Family Practice and Betsy Paterson.
There are opportunities for community members to volunteer at each movie night. Interested individuals are encouraged to contact Partnership Event Coordinator Denise Kegler for more information (860.429.2740).
