Louis Goffinet is a long-time resident of Mansfield, a graduate of Mansfield Public Schools and E.O. Smith High School, and a current employee of both the Town of Mansfield and Mansfield Public Schools. In his full-time work for Mansfield Public Schools, Louis is the district’s Technology Integration Specialist, a certified teacher who works with teachers, students, and families throughout the district to support their meaningful use of technology and digital tools. Through Mansfield Public Schools, Louis is heavily involved in extracurricular activities at the Middle School, including coaching boys’ soccer, boys’ basketball, and girls’ and boys’ track & field, as well as serving as an advisor and chaperone for Mansfield Middle School’s German Exchange program. Additionally, Louis has worked part-time for Mansfield’s Parks and Recreation Department for the past 12 years. During this time, he has been heavily involved in the Department’s Camp Mansfield programming and currently works primarily as a weekend and evening supervisor at the Mansfield Community Center. In his free time, he enjoys traveling to our National Parks and internationally.

In 2021, Louis received the Partnership’s A.J. Pappanikou Volunteer of the Year award for his efforts to assist his fellow Mansfield residents with grocery shopping during the pandemic. Louis created the “Neighbors Grocery Relief Fund” to offer supplemental help to folks in a bind. He raised over $50,000 to not only help with groceries, but also to provide emergency relief to several individuals in danger of losing their housing, provide Thanksgiving meals, and offer assistance with bills and gifts during the winter holidays.

“As a former student of E.O. Smith High School and the University of Connecticut, I have experienced, first hand, the tremendous impact that Downtown Storrs has had on our community. Downtown Storrs has significantly elevated the quality of life for year-long residents and seasonal residents alike by offering a dynamic environment for gathering, recreation, and entertainment. By joining the Board, I would bring a new perspective, through the lenses of my experiences as a 23-year resident of Mansfield, a 12-year employee of the Town, and a passionate supporter of the Downtown to help navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
