Ron Schurin came to Mansfield in 1997 to join the UConn community, first in the office of the University president and then as a faculty member in the Department of Political Science. During his 25 years here he has served as a member of the Region 19 (E.O. Smith) Board of Education and, since 2018, as a member of the Mansfield Town Council. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Willowbrook Association.
Ron previously resided in college towns including Ann Arbor, Michigan, the “Dinkytown” university neighborhood of Minneapolis, and Princeton, New Jersey. He hopes he would bring to the Partnership a sense of how a vibrant downtown community in a town with a major university can best serve all its members.
Ron holds a Master of Public Affairs degree from Princeton University and a PhD in Political Science from the City University of New York. He resides on Willowbrook Road with his wife Mary Manning.
