John E. Jackman Tour de Mansfield: 06.04.2022

The Town of Mansfield, Mansfield Downtown Partnership, and Mansfield Community Center invite bicyclists to participate in the 17th Annual John E. Jackman Tour de Mansfield on Saturday, June 4, 2022 (the rain date is Sunday, June 5).

The John E. Jackman Tour de Mansfield is a great opportunity to explore Mansfield's scenic roads and historic villages with residents and friends - all by bicycle!

The Town, Downtown Partnership, and Community Center, host this ride annually in celebration of John E. Jackman, who served the Town for twenty-seven years and was a strong advocate for cycling in Mansfield.

Participants will choose from one of two routes, both of which are on open roads. Experience riding on roads is strongly recommended. Older children with road riding experience are welcome to ride with an adult. All participants must wear a helmet and follow the rules of the road. All rides will begin and end at the Mansfield Community Center (10 S. Eagleville Road).

New this year is an optional stop at the historic Gurleyville Grist Mill. There, volunteers from Joshua’s Trust will lead mini-tours of the stone water-powered mill built in 1830.

The property offers a unique opportunity to observe rural 19th century grist mill technology. The only stone mill of its kind in Connecticut, it contains a complete system of preserved milling equipment. This is not a restoration; here visitors see the equipment as it was operated over many decades and to the middle of the 20th century.

Tour de Mansfield participants can choose to stop, take part in a tour, and enjoy a rest on the benches and lawn with a peaceful view of the Fenton River.

All participants must register. Please visit mansfieldct.gov/biketour for more information and to register.

The fee to register by June 1 is $30; after June 1, the fee is $35. Participants under the age of 18 ride for free.

The registration fee covers lunch, snacks, and ride support. The first 100 riders to sign in on June 4 will receive a commemorative t-shirt.
